Why do we use organic winemaking?
The Cellars of A.Vilamajó, has been admitted by the Organic Production Council from the Ministry of Agriculture of the Catalan Government due to our optimal conditions to elaborate organic wine and cava, with European Certification.
So we present the new organic winemaking products named LhEBLAN, with organic european certification. We use organic farming grapes and we elaborate them using our traditional and natural methods of elaboration.
What is an organic wine?
The organic wine is a natural product elaborated to obtain a high quality wine with full respect to the environment. That's why chemical products that could harm the soil are not used in the organic vineyards farming.
The Organic Regulation limit the use of sulphites (used to avoid wine contamination or oxidation) on the elaboration cellar, that's why we work at our cellar with the highest standards of cleanliness.
Why organic products?
All our products (either the certificated and not certificated) are elaborated with the same natural and traditional method, and are obtained from high quality grapes, so the moderate consume of our wines and cavas improve the health and the vitality.
Furthermore, consume organic products make us feel "connected" with the natural environment because the organic farming takes care on earth and grow us up to a better world.
Are sustainable with environment?
The respecto to environment is one of the
principles of ecological products; when we consume foods from organic agriculture we collaborate in the conservation of environment and avoid the
soil, water and air contamination.
Ecological agriculture is the most respectful with the fauna, the one that generates lower contamination
of aerosols, produces less carbon dioxide, prevents the greenhouse effect, does not generate contaminating waste sing and aid to the power
saving, since in the agriculture and the elaboration of
products the renewable resources are used to the maximum.
It is important to emphasize that the
diminution of the biological diversity is one of the main environmental
problems of the present time; organic agriculture preserves the seeds for
the future, preventing by this way, the disappearance of some varieties of
great nutritious and cultural value.
Have these products the maximum
quality levels?
The
ecological foods come from the ecological agriculture, that uses a
production system of the maximum reliability since it is controlled from the field to the table by the European Regulation
2092/91. All the agents who take part in the agro-alimentary chain are
subject to the control and inspection of the used materials, the
process of elaboration, the packaging, the labels, etc. by
the credited control and certification companies; the CCPAE in our
case.
Is respectful with the
nature in general?
Ecological agriculture fertilizes the soil and restrains
the desertification. It favors the retention of the water and it does not
contaminate the aquifers. It foments the biodiversity. It
maintains the habitats of the wild animals, allowing and favoring the life
of diverse species. It respects the natural cycles of the cultures,
avoiding the degradation and contamination of the ecosystems. It favors
the ecological balance through different practices: rotations,
associations, green fertilizers, etc. It favors the soil natural fertility and the productive capacity of the agrarian system. It recycles the
nutrients adding them back to soil by organic
fertilizers, and uses on an optimal way the natural resources. In summary,
it respects the nature balance contributing to the preservation of
the ecosystem and the sustainable rural development.
Are allowed
genetically modified organisms?
In
ecological agriculture the genetically modified organisms (GMO) are not authorized. The GMO culture can have negative consequences for
environment and there are not enough investigations on the long term consequences of
transgenic culture; at the moment scientific results do not exist to
demonstrate that the GMO culture and transgenics foods are inoffensive
for environment and the human health, and it is not known if the ingestion
of plants genetically modified supposes a direct danger for the health,
although is indications that they show an influence in the
metabolism.
Therefore no of our products (certified of
ecological agriculture or conventional agriculture) is elaborated with the
intervention of genetically modified organisms.
Agriculture with genetically modified organisms leads
towards the genetic uniformity and with it towards a genetic erosion,
which means a lost of varieties, with great extensions of the same
kind of culture. Ecological agriculture wants to conserve and to impel the genetic
variety of the species and types, and with it the wealth of the culture
landscapes.
